Even those not in the market for a new boat can enjoy a visit to the New York National Boat Show just to check out all the electronics and accessories on display.
The TideSlide mooring system is the most innovative product I spotted Sunday. That new system eliminates the need for crossed stern lines and for slack in any mooring lines while still safely holding boats close to the dock. It consists of a solid stainless steel shaft with a polyethylene self-lubricating mooring block that slides up and down with tide changes to provide security within the slip with short, snug lines plus free vertical movement. The TideSlide system (800-780-6094) accommodates any length vessel and a variety of tide ranges with different size shafts available at a modest cost. Mark Baluha demonstrates the system at Booth 19, next to The Fishing Line.
